Managing money and planning for retirement is so much easier with clear direction

Simon is in his early 50’s and works as a consultant to a large international IT company. Simon was referred to us by a friend (who is also an existing client). Having been to see another adviser who had just tried to sell him large amounts of insurance, Simon wanted see an advisor who would give him some honest and impartial advice.

From our initial conversations it was clear that Simon was time poor due to his work commitments and was in need of some clarity and direction.

Independent/Non-Conflicted Advice: He had been to bank advisor who just wanted to sell him a whole lot of insurance to make big commissions…which didn’t sit well with him. He liked the idea of our ‘fee for service’ model with no commissions.

Simplifying his existing superannuation: Being extremely time poor Simon had not had a chance to look properly at his super. He had accumulated six different super funds having changed jobs as an IT consultant a number of times over the years and gone with the default fund every. He wanted to consolidate all his holdings into one account to make it easy to control and manage going forward.

The right level of Insurance cover: Simon knew the value of insurance but wanted to ensure he had the right level of cover as he felt he was over insured and this was costing him significant amounts in unnecessary premiums.

Building wealth for a happy retirement: He wanted a clear direction for his overall financial affairs and in particular was also looking for longer term strategic planning to build his wealth for retirement in the next 10-15 years.

Working together we put in place a number of clear strategies to simplify his situation and importantly provide guidance so he knows, that come retirement, his money will out last him.

  • His super is consolidated into a single fund for ease of management
  • He has the right level of cover which saved him paying unnecessary premiums
  • We completed in depth modelling and analysis to provide him with options for saving for his retirement
  • We have supported Simon manage his financial affairs over the past couple of years as his circumstances have changed; including changing jobs and moving his mother into Aged Care. Sadly she has recently passed away.

Simon continues to rely on us as his sounding board for guidance and direction as his life continues to unfold.
