“It’s not just about the money it’s about what makes life worth living”

I firmly believe that money is a vehicle for doing the things that make life worth living.

After all, life is so much more enjoyable if you don’t have to worry about money. I have learnt the key to living a fulfilled life is to take control of your cash so that it doesn’t control you.

It’s about understanding your needs and desires and getting your money to work for you - so that your happiness isn’t at the mercy of your paycheck.

I’ve been dispensing the same philosophy for three decades:

1. Work out what is really important to you
2. Get finance smart
3. Stay ahead of the game

Then you can live life on your terms.

If you couldn’t do what you do and money was no object…

I am sure this stems from a passion of mine to fix stuff. Whether it’s renovating a house, repairing kids bikes or just trying to keep up with my two young daughters, I’m up for it.

Although I wouldn’t make a living from being a handy man, I do know how to help fix peoples finances and get them on the right path.

My dream life is one that allows me travel to far-flung corners of the globe and experience new and different cultures. Getting off the beaten track and exploring all the possibilities to make every moment count underpins how I live my life…. and it is how I help others to use money to live theirs.

Why, because I know what makes life worth living.

Life is too short and my time here matters too much!

Amanda Stavrou, Associate Adviser

“Let the little things go”

Amanda is a glass half full kind of person and doesn’t let the little things in life get her down. She’s always looking for the positives in any situation and often tells her close friends and family to let the little things go. Her father once told her to stop looking at life through rose coloured glasses, but that’s the one piece of advice she hasn’t taken!

Amanda worked for a CBD based stockbroking firm for 9 years before starting her financial planning career. She decided she wanted to know more about finances than just the stock market and she knew there was more to investing than buying and selling stocks. Not only does she have over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, she has a Bachelor of Business in Financial Planning, Diploma of Financial Planning and Diploma of Financial Markets. Amanda has also attained accreditations in Direct Equities and Self-Managed Superannuation Funds along the way.

Around the office…

Amanda is known for her love of chocolate, strawberry cheesecake and great sense of humour. She has a warm and friendly nature and loved meeting new people and building solid relationships with clients. But don’t ask her to fix your iPad or your computer, she’s not that into fixing technology but she sure knows how to use it!

If you couldn’t do what you do and money was no object…

I would set sail and uncover the mystical and least inhabited places of the world!

Getting down to business

Amanda wishes that she knew what she knows now when she was fresh out of school. She believes that the younger generation need to be taught about money early on and that the early adopters win. In her free time, Amanda enjoys getting away with her young family, breathing in the fresh country air in the winter months and you’d be sure to find her on a beach somewhere in the summer time.

Fraser Hastie, Associate Adviser

Fraser Hastie GPL Kew.jpg

“Let’s keep it simple”

Fraser is a simple man with simple needs: he likes to cook great food, enjoys the outdoors and loves demystifying financial jargon about as much as a politician relishes a photo opportunity. He’s our gobbledygook guru and go-to guy when it comes to telling clients how it is. And they love him for it. Being CFP (Certified Financial Planner) qualified and with a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Physical Education and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning, Fraser doesn’t just have great charisma, he’s got credentials too. And don’t get us started on his chicken bouillabaisse.

Around the office…

Fraser is known as the MasterChef. He cooks the team meals without a recipe. Most of us can’t use a microwave without instructions (not you, Kate).

If you couldn’t do what you do and money was no object…

I’d devote my life to doing the (other) things that make me happy – volunteering with Disabled Wintersport Australia and travelling the world, sniffing out the greatest flavours, foodies and fandangled cooking apparatus known to humankind.

Getting down to business

Linda Evangelista famously said: “I don’t get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day”. I guess if I added up all the money I’ve helped clients save, secure and attain over the years, I wouldn’t be far off. But what really motivates me each day is knowing that I can connect with clients, cut through the jargon and simplify complex issues to help them take control of their finances. And that’s more satisfying than any Vogue cover shoot.

Kate Gomez, Head of Client Engagement

Kate Gomez GPL Kew

 “Just make it happen”

Cerulean Wealth Advisers couldn’t survive without Kate, and not just because of the delectable baked goodies she disburses around the office. Kate has the kind of rapport with clients that makes us suspicious: is she paying them to sing her praises? Indirectly, yes, she’s helping them make a motza. Kate has diplomas in financial services (Financial Planning and Banking and Finance) and has been working her magic in the industry for over eight years. If you see her on the roads of a weekend looking steely, keep clear; she’s seeking out the best new-fad donuts in town.

Around the office…

Kate is the Dream Catcher. She loves travel, and clients love telling her about their next big adventure. A sniff of incense and Kate takes us away to magical places.

If you couldn’t do what you do and money was no object…

Ooh, my life would revolve around cities and Ceylon, glaciers and gateaux, mountains and meringue… I’d open up a tea emporium and patisserie, and when not taste-testing I’d be travelling – roaming the national parks of North America, seeing the northern lights in Alaska and admiring the architecture in New York.

Getting down to business

Some call it OCD, I call it getting stuff done. I have a very regimented ‘To Do’ list that dictates my work day. Believe me, there’s nothing more satisfying than getting to the end of the day and having a tick against every task – especially when that task brings my client another step closer to realising their dreams. When those dreams come to fruition, and they tell me about getting behind the wheel of their new Porsche, or jet setting in the Caribbean, my soul sings.

Thu Tran, Office Coordinator

Thu Tran GPL Kew.jpg

Thu, our office coordinator, HR director and chief stirrer, joined us in 2004, bringing with her years of experience in banking, funds management and financial planning administration.

Around the office…

Thu is a fixer. Her brain is always ticking away about how to do things better and make life easier. So if it’s labeling every appliance cord in the kitchen, cleaning out the store room or overhauling the filing cabinets. Thu will roll up her sleeves and get stuck into it.

Getting down to business

Although coming into the office can sometimes be full of jokes and laughter, there’s a serious side to what I do. I make sure that everything is done by the book and everyone is treated fairly. I induct new team members, oversee the internal databases, coordinate special projects and events, and keep our clientele up to date with our latest news via our newsletter and blogs.
